Teacher “TWEETs”

We are continuing our preparation for the CRCT by practicing test taking strategies. In addition, we are starting to review standards taught earlier in the year. It is of the utmost importance that your children be present at school each day. We have missed 8 days of instruction due to inclement weather. We have begun reviewing material learned earlier this year, but we are still teaching new material and will be from now until the end of the year. With that being said, if possible, please schedule all doctor and dentist appointments after school. We realize that this may not be a possibility for every student and that special circumstances will arise, but we would appreciate your help with attendance at this very critical part of the school year. Thank you!

As always, please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions.

We want to remind you the importance of daily reading at home (RAH=Read At Home).  It is essential to continuing your child’s reading growth as it keeps them in practice.  We want to encourage students to continue reading, even on weekends and holidays. It is a great idea to expose children to different types of reading material.  Your child doesn’t have to read a story book every night, instead they may read a magazine, newspaper or even an online article.

Daily math practice is also a key part of a child’s success with math instruction.  It is important for students to practice their basic math facts continually.  These math facts should include some addition, subtraction, and multiplication.  A child could practice by doing flashcards, writing out math facts, drawing pictures of facts, etc.

We hope each family has a great holiday season!

November Happenings

As we have reached the end of the 1st nine weeks, we want to remind you how important regular attendance is to your child’s learning and progress.  It is easy for students to start falling behind if they are missing instructional time.  We also feel it is equally important for students to arrive by 7:50 to ensure they get their day started on time.  Please ensure your child has regular, on-time attendance.  We do understand sickness may arise, especially as we enter the Fall and Winter seasons.  If your child is sick, please contact Nurse Dawn Wale.  She can advise as to whether your child should be kept home.  Remember to send in an excuse for any absences.  It is important for students to remain at school for the entire day.  Please try to schedule any appointments after school hours.  We appreciate your consideration in helping your child have good school attendance.

We are going on a field trip to the Georgia Aquarium on November 21st. The cost of this field trip is $3. Please pay for your child as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we will be unable to take parents with us on this field trip. As always, please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions or concerns.
